Franklin Miller Grinder Technology

CUTTER CARTRIDGE® Technology

The monolithic, one-piece cutter element that replaces stacks of individual cutter and spacer disks — for far greater strength, a fraction of the parts, and simpler maintenance across Franklin Miller grinders.

A Better Cutter, By Design

What Is CUTTER CARTRIDGE® Technology?

CUTTER CARTRIDGE® technology is Franklin Miller's approach to grinder cutter design. Instead of stacking dozens of thin individual cutter and spacer disks on each shaft, multiple cutters and spacers are combined into a single high-strength, one-piece element machined from solid alloy steel.

The result is dramatically greater strength, a fraction of the moving parts, and the elimination of the cracking, shaft scoring, stack loosening and catastrophic stack collapse that affect conventional twin-shaft grinders.

The Advantage

Why CUTTER CARTRIDGE® Technology Wins

Fewer parts, more strength, and the elimination of the failure points common to conventional grinder cutter stacks.

Monolithic One-Piece Construction

One-piece monolithic elements replace thin individual cutter and spacer disks, drastically increasing cutter strength. Each cutter cross-section grows from roughly 5/16" to over 3.75", all but eliminating cracking and misalignment — an entire 60" grinder stack can be assembled without shimming or adjustment.

Forged From One Solid Block of Alloy Steel

Six cutters and spacers are formed from one solid block of alloy steel. The result is far higher strength than individual cutter disks — with no gaps between cutters to trap contaminants or work loose.

1/12th the Cutter Parts

With CUTTER CARTRIDGE® technology there are far fewer parts, so unit reliability is greatly enhanced. With 1/12 the parts, unit strength is more than doubled, and maintenance becomes fast and easy.

Solid Power to the Cutters

Instead of assembling or disassembling banks of thin cutter and spacer disks, each one-piece CUTTER CARTRIDGE® element has a broad bore surface engaging the shaft for solid transmission of power.

No Shaft Scoring, No Stack Collapse

Because there are no thin cutters and spacers, shaft scoring is eliminated — making disassembly far easier and removing a major cause of grinder failure. There is no stack retightening and no catastrophic stack collapse.
